Hope for Kids

The Hope for Kids program is being launched at James Ryan Middle School in the Third Ward to treat and prevent the alarmingly increasing rates of child obesity. According to recent studies, 70% of Houston children are suffering from being overweight which can lead to debilitating, life threatening diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma, hepatic steatosis, and sleep apnea. In addition, suffering from being overweight can cause severe emotional problems for adults and children alike. Hope for Kids needs your help and support to make 2009 a success at James Ryan Middle School!
